  • May 2003 The BEAR Group begins field testing cans.

  • Sept 2003 Our bear-resistant can officially unveiled in Pompton Plains NJ at Black Bear Educational Seminar (featuring Aversive-
    conditioning expert Steve Searles and ACO Meredith Petrillo).
    BEAR Group volunteers assemble first 50 cans.

  • Oct 2003 Local businesses sign-on as distributors of the Critter Can™.

  • May 2004 2 cans delivered to Wildlife Research Institute in Ely, Minn.

  • June 2004 200 Critter Cans™ sold for the Passaic County Freeholders who subsidized ½ cost using Clean Communities funds.

  • Aug 2004 200 Critter Cans™ sold for the Passaic County Freeholders who subsidized ½ cost using Clean Communities funds.

  • Oct 2004 50 cans delivered to the Township of Denville, NJ.

  • April 2005 30 cans delivered to the Township of Denville, NJ.

  • April 2005 4 cans delivered to the Sussex County Library System.

  • April 2005 18 cans for use at residential group homes delivered to
    Sussex County Association of Retarded Citizens.

  • April 2005 600 cans made available by Township of Hardyston, NJ
    who subsidized ½ cost using Clean Communities funds. BEAR Group volunteers assisted town officials, scouts and DPW employees with assembly of cans.

  • June 2005 200 Critter Cans™ sold for the Passaic County Freeholders who subsidized ½ cost using Clean Communities funds.

  • June 2005 NJDEP Commissioner presented West Milford Township, NJ a $200,000 grant to purchase bear resistant garbage cans.

  • Aug 2005 200 Critter Cans™ sold for the Passaic County Freeholders who subsidized ½ cost using Clean Communities funds.

  • Aug 2005 30 cans delivered to the Township of Denville, NJ.

  • Nov 2005 100 cans assembled at Rockaway Township, NJ DPW in 2 hrs

  • Nov 2005 BEAR Group exhibits cans and carts to officials attending
    NJ League of Municipalities Conference in Atlantic City.

  • May 2006 Carts/hardware tested at Popcorn Park Zoo, Forked River NJ.
